Unemployment among females and youth higher in Sri Lanka in 2019

Apr 14, Colombo: : According to the Labor Force Survey data released by the Department of Census and Statistics, the unemployment among females in all age groups and youth is higher than that of men contributing more to the overall unemployment of the country. According to the Labor Force Survey, which is designed to measure the levels and trends of employment, Sri Lanka’s unemployment rate for 2019 has risen to 4.8 percent from 4.6 percent in 2018, ranking it third among South Asian countries with high unemployment rates.
